12-12-12 Happy Aaron Rodgers Day!

Today people across the state of WI will be celebrating a local sports great, but did you know it all started with a woman with a creative mind?

NORTH CENTRAL WISCONSIN (MyFoxWausau) -
Wednesday is December 12, 2012. To mark the 12/12/12 date, one Stevens Point women started a Facebook page in honor of Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
The Wisconsin Legislature got on board and made the day official earlier this year.
"It all just kind of started happening and I think it's a testament to Packers fans and how passionate they are," Stevens Point resident Jennifer Brilowski said.
She started the Facebook page that sparked the initial idea. The page asked to make December 12, 2012 Aaron Rodgers Day. Rodgers wears number 12 on the field.
"Also, the numbers worked out. 12-12-12," Brilowski said.
Brilowski got to meet the MVP quarterback in May and present him with a plaque once the day was official.
"He was very humble, very professional," she said of Rodgers.
Brilowski said the day isn't just about celebrating Rodgers, but also about giving back. She's been raising money for one of the quarterback's favorite charities, and others are getting on board, too.
"MVP, he's awesome. He's the best," East Junior High School student Raquel Charpentier said.
Students at the school in Wisconsin Rapids are pumped up to celebrate 12/12/12 and honor Aaron Rodgers.
"I was more than excited to be a part of it and especially bringing it to the school. It was a great way to get everybody involved," Charpentier said.
They're also raising money for local charities. At a school assembly on 12/12/12, Element Mobile will donate up to $1,000 for every student wearing Packers gear.
"We have spirit weeks and we have a jersey day and everyone is just decked out in Packers," student Celeste Huff said.
When the Packers organization heard about the students' efforts, it donated several Aaron Rodgers keepsakes for dedicated fans there.
"It's really awesome that we can give back to the community in this way and have fun while doing it," Huff said.
Brilowski said she's blown away by the support and she plans on honoring the MVP quarterback long after his special day is over.
"I'm going to try to enjoy it and savor every moment," she said.

An inspiring story to say the least!  Now go out into the world and make your difference.  It does not matter how small, because it might just turn out to be a state recognized day!

9-11-01 Never Forget!

Today marks the 11th anniversary of the attacks on September 11th, 2001.  Today, we remember the senseless tragedy that killed thousands of innocent people on that sunny, cloudless day.  Today, we honor the sacrifice of the men and women of the FDNY, NYPD, and many other emergency personnel who risked their lives to save others.  Today, we will never forget, because that day our lives were changed forever!

New Position, Same Goal!

Hello Students, Parents, and Staff at Lincoln-Erdman Elementary!

My name is Brad Washuleski, I am the Intervention Specialist at your school.  Here is a brief introduction to my duties.  For the families of students who worked in the PACE program in the past, those services will still be provided for your student!
I am the Intervention Specialist for Lincoln-Erdman Elementary in the Sheboygan Area School District. My position provides multi-tiered services for K-5 students. As our district shifts to RtI (Response to Intervention), we will be answering these essential questions: 1.) What do we do if the student doesn't get it? and 2.) What do we do if the the student already knows it? My duties include, providing resources to teachers and students (Tier 1), small group interventions (Tier 2), and facilitating Acceleration cases (Tier 3). I will also be providing staff development and participate on the data team for the school. I look forward to using Edmodo with my students so that they may be exposed to this great technology and find resources that will be beneficial to them!

I look forward to another great year, helping students see their potential and having them learn to Raise the Bar in their everyday lives!

Sincerely,
Brad A. Washuleski

Final PACE Classes

Good Morning!

This week, May 29- June 4 will be our last PACE sessions of the year.  We will be celebrating our accomplishments over the past year and look towards the future for next year.  Summer is a great time to spend relaxing with family and friends, but it should also be a time to make sure to keep your brain sharp! Make sure that you set some time to continue reading and practicing the math concepts that we studied this year.  This should also be a time for exploration, research some questions that you had this year.  Go to a museum or wildlife sanctuary.  Simply keep your brain stimulated and try to limit VGD (Video Game Disease).  This will ensure that you don't lose anything and are ready to go in the fall!  Again, I will be in a new position next school year at Lincoln-Erdman.  It has been a pleasure getting to know the students, parents, and staff at Jefferson, Pigeon River, and Washington schools.  You will be missed!

Sincerely,

Mr. Washuleski

PACE and RtI

Good Morning Students, Parents, and Staff;

The Sheboygan Area School District is moving towards a new education model called RtI, (Response to Intervention) that will increase the intervention time for students due to having one intervention specialist at each elementary school.  Parents of PACE identified students will be receiving a letter that explains the new vision that will incorporate the PACE program and gifted students.  This shift will mean that I will no longer serve as the PACE teacher for Jefferson, Lincoln-Erdman, Pigeon River, and Washington schools.  My new role will be the Intervention Specialist at Lincoln-Erdman Elementary.  I would like to thank all my parents, staff, and most importantly the students over the years that I have had the unique opportunity to see grow and "Raise the Bar" in their everyday lives!  I will hold onto those special memories and please know that if you ever need anything I will be there!

"Be good to each other, but more importantly, be good to yourself"

Humbly Yours,

Mr. Washuleski

"The Storm" Concert!

On Friday night I had the honor of witnessing "Raising the Bar" in action as "The Storm", a group of 6th grade students; played for a concert where the proceeds raised funds for technology at their school!  I am so very proud of their accomplishments at such an early age, and it goes to show you that you can achieve your dreams with effort, determination, and perseverance!  I like to have you see what that hard work looks like by clicking on the link below on You Tube.  Congratulations to The Storm, and may this just be the beginning of a long career!!!

Happy New Year!!!

Happy 2012 Everyone!

This is the time of year when people make New Year's Resolutions.  We will be doing something similar as students choose goals in our High Ability Language Arts classes and decide what they want to improve in, (Reading, Writing, or Both)!  We will check their progress through till May and then hopefully their hard work will pay off when they take the spring MAPS assessment.  Best of luck to all HALA students and continue to Raise the Bar!
